In Alabama, we know how to win.  And Alabama voters deserve a chance to be part of shaping a winning solution for what Gaming can and should do for our State.

Once again this session, lawmakers in Montgomery are trying to tackle the gaming issue. Despite the fact that almost  90% of Alabama voters say they want to have a chance to vote on gaming, legislators have spent years debating the issue without passing a plan.

But this year, you don’t have to just stand frustrated on the sideline, hoping the folks you elected get the job done. Your participation can make a critical difference in how this session plays out and whether you will finally get a chance to vote on a lottery and a complete, clear gaming plan that will bring Alabama REVENUES, have RULES, and produce long-term REWARDS.

REVENUES

In Alabama, voters know that a lottery and a clear, complete gaming plan will bring in new Revenues – that’s money that can go to make education better and more affordable, increase our access to healthcare – including mental health services, and improve our roads and bridges that are way overdue for an overhaul.

RULES

In Alabama, we play by the Rules. Just about any business in our state – from doctors to contractors to restaurants – have to be licensed and regulated.  Those rules protect us and make sure the playing field is level for everybody. Gaming businesses should play by the rules, too.

REWARDS

We also know that economic development, especially in rural areas, produces large and long-term Rewards in the form of a better quality of life. That includes attracting tourists who will spend money, creating new businesses and good paying jobs, and increasing opportunities for education, training, and employment for young people so they can pursue their dreams without having to leave their home.

Lottery + a Clear Complete Gaming Plan with Rules, Revenues, and Rewards

A State Lottery.

Regulation that would include strict accounting of profits and tax liabilities from each new casino site and penalties for illegal operators.

A profit-sharing agreement (known as a COMPACT) between the State and the Poarch Band of Creek Indians based on the Tribe’s ability to increase its revenues by being awarded a commercial license.

Sports Book that is tied to a brick-and-mortar gaming business is better regulated, it benefits from being connected with a known brand, it brings in business to the known establishment and it brings people together to create a “sports-oriented community”.
